What is a chatbot conversation flow?
A chatbot conversation flow is the planned steps of back-and-forth talking between a person and a chatbot. It shows the different paths the conversation can go based on what the person says. This helps the chatbot understand the person's goal and give helpful responses.
The conversation flow is set up like a diagram or decision tree. It maps out the different branches and points that the chatbot can follow.
Key elements of a chatbot conversation flow
Greeting: The first message welcoming the person and setting the tone.
User goals: Figuring out what the person might want to do, like getting information, buying something, or getting help.
Key details: Picking up important pieces of information like names, dates, or places that the person mentions.
Bot responses: Deciding what responses the chatbot should give for each thing the person says, based on their goal and details.
Fallback: Having a backup response if the chatbot doesn't fully understand, to get the conversation back on track.
Branching: Mapping the different paths the conversation could take based on the person's choices.
Continuity: Keeping track of important details from earlier in the conversation.
